Robertson is available for speeches or workshops on Enterprise Architecture. His one hour speech “What to Tell the Management Team” is designed for business management audiences, and will help them understand the importance of enterprise architecture and show them how they can work with their IT counterparts to manage it.
His workshop goes deeper into the topic, facilitating a management discussion on exactly where a company’s enterprise architecture is hindering its strategic execution and what actions could be taken to address this.
The goal of the workshop is to help a management team understand how their current enterprise architecture is facilitating or hindering the execution of the company’s strategy. Through a mix of educational sessions and hands-on exercises, the team will learn what enterprise architecture is, why it’s a business management issue, and what role business managers have to play in its development. By the end of the workshop, the team will have a clear view of the problem areas in the company, the plan for addressing them, and specific next steps.
I have seen Professor Robertson teach in three types of settings: (1) during class-room education, (2) at IMD workshops, and (3) within organizations to boardroom-level executives. In each of these cases, his teaching was clear, structured, and with lots of interaction with his audience. What I appreciated especially is that he was able to adapt his style to his audience and the type of setting. His teaching was – as are all my interactions with him – a good combination of sound academic work and real-life experiences.
